5) 153 vs South Africa ( Centurion, 2018)

India tour of South Africa 2018, was not so good in case of tests where team India lost 1-2 to South Africa. But Virat Kohli managed to deliver with bat in that series being the highest run scorer in test series followed by AB De Villiers. A Virat Kohli masterclass came in the first innings of second test when team India was in a bad position, at one point it seemed that South Africa will end up with lead of 100 runs. But then came Virat who scored more than half of India's runs and helped India to reach close to South Africa's first innings score.

In the end Lungi Ngidi proved to be the difference between the two teams and South Africa won the match.

Chasing an improbable target of 364 in the 1st test at day 5 ,after handling the captaincy duties he scored twin centuries in 2nd and 4th innings. All of India's hopes were on Virat Kohli and he fulfilled his role as well scoring 141 off just 175 balls with an aggressive strike rate of  80.57 . But soon after his dismissal at 304-7 India was bundled out at the score of 315. Though he didn't won the match but his efforts will always be remembered as his best overseas knock.
